Parenting styles and its effects on the child development â€Å"The most beautiful thing in this world is to see your parents smiling and knowing that you are the reason behind that smile.† Our parents’ first concern; which parenting style to follow in order to raise up a well-developed, and well-mannered person. Matter of fact, a huge debate went over this particular issue, whether strict parenting is the right method, or being leant is the correct method. There is clear evidence that parents can and do influence children. (Maccoby 1). Although, there are numerous factors that can affect the parenting process, or affect the way the parents treat the child (Bossard 333) (Maccoby 1). For instance, different home†¦show more content†¦This in fact raises a very important question to the parent; are they consistent in their style of parenting? And does parenting style have the same meaning across the cultures (Smetana 194)? Researches stressed more to define this view of control, in the book: Adolescents, Families, and social development. The writer Judith G. Smetana defines control further; High levels of control can refer to parents who supervise and have firm rules for their children and provide a great deal of structure and guidance. This notion can also include parents who are overly intrusive, use guilt, or threaten to withdrawal their love if teens dont comply with their wishes. (Smetana 198). In addition to restriction and pressure on the child to eat his food is what over control parental means, and it can be also defined as authoritative parenting (Hubbs-Tait et al. 8). Parents try to create and build up their childs personality in their own image, their believes, and likeness of how the child should be (Smetana 198). According to the journal; parenting styles and children’s behavior authoritarian parenting is mainly forcing to act in a certain behavior which do not conflict with what parents do believe that is right (Carter , Welch 191). Henry James The Europeans Essay - 1496 Words

In his novel The Europeans, Henry James tells the story of an American family that is visited by their European cousins. James uses these circumstances to depict the differences between Europeans and Americans. The Americans tend to be frightened of the Europeans, since they seem quite foreign within the puritanical American community. On the other hand, the Europeans are surprised by the Americans provincial ways. Reaction to the unfamiliar is a central element of the novel. Each characters reaction to the unfamiliar reveals his or her personality and also determines whom that character is capable of tolerating and of loving. Felix is as open to the unknown as Gertrude, having traveled around in Europe because he could never stay in one place. He also changes quickly; instead of thinking of tradit ion he adapts to whatever culture is around him: Felix, who learned all things quickly, had already learned that the silences frequently observed among his new acquaintances were not necessarily restrictive or resentful(34). Gertrude and Felix are both outgoing and do not have a strong sense of tradition and duty because they would rather change atmospheres than be bound by the one they presently live in. However, others in the novel do not welcome variation in their lives as do Gertrude and Felix. Charlotte and Mr. Brand are both vehemently opposed to change. They like to uphold tradition, and would rather keep their lives calm than take a risk. Charlotte is always concerned with duty, and thus takes this attitude when her foreign cousins come to visit. James depicts the situation: It was an extension of duty, of the exercise of the more recondite virtues; but neither Mr. Wentworth, nor Charlotte, not Mr. Brand, who, among these excellent people, was a great promoter of reflection and aspiration, frankly adverted to it as an extension of enjoyment. Global Conference Business Finance Proceed -Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About The Global Conference Business Finance Proceed? Answer: Introducation Analysis of annual report of GDI property group stabled depicts that equity comprise of some of items such as contributed equity, retained profits and reserves. Equity of the group is divided into equity attributable to equity holders of the company, equity attributable to trust unit holders and equity attributable to external non controlling interests. The value of contributed equity attributed to equity holders as depicted from the balance sheet stood at$ 22264000, value of reserve stood at $ 125000 and value of retained profits stood at $ 3332000 for the financial year 2017. Contributed equity is one of the items in the section of shareholders equity in the statement of financial position. It represents the total stock value that is purchased by shareholders directly from company that is issuing shares. Contributed equity is the paid in capital that is given by shareholders in terms of amount of cash or assets in exchange for stock (Camfferman and Zeff 2015). Reserves are one of the parts of business profits that have been kept aside for strengthening the financial position of entities. It is the liabilities that are attributable to business and are used for repaying debts, purchasing fixed assets, dividend repayments, bonuses and expansion of funds. Capital reserves and revenue reserves are the two types of reserves that are used by business. Revenue reverses are that portion of profits that is generated by the operations of company and capital reserve on the other hand is generated from profits that arise from sources that are other than trading activities (Arnold et al. 2015). Retained profits are than profits that are reinvested by organization into business and they are not paid or distributed to shareholders by way of dividend (Roy 2015). It is regarded as one of the significant long-term sources of finance for running the business. Total amount of tax expenses and benefit attributable to GDI property group stapled is recorded in the consolidated statement of profit and loss and other comprehensive income. Group recorded income tax benefit of amount $ 345000 in financial year 2017 and income tax expense of $ 248000 in financial year 2016 respectively. The accounting income of group for the financial year 2017 and 2016 stood at $ 106970 million and $ 47949 million. Effective tax rate that is employed the group stood at 27.5%. Therefore, the value of accounting income times taxation rate for both the years stood at (27.5%. * $ 106970= $ 29416.75) and (27.5%. * $ 47949= $ 13185.97). On other hand, income tax benefit and expenses stood at $ 345000 and ($ 248000) for year 2017 and 2016 respectively. It can be seen from the computation of figures that there is considerable difference between the amount of tax expenses recorded and the accounting income of company times the taxation rate. This difference is amount is attributable to the fact that the accounting treatment for computing income tax is different from the accounting treatment used for computing accounting income of the group. The amount of deferred tax assets have been recorded in the section of noncurrent assets of the consolidated statement of financial position. Deferred tax amount for the financial year 2017 and 2016 stood at $ 1258 million and $ 913 million respectively. Recording of deferred tax assets is done because of recognition of unused tax losses and temporary differences and this is done to the extent that probable future taxable profits is available against which the utilization of deferred tax assets is done (Agrawal and Cooper 2017). GDI property group stapled has not recorded any income tax payable in both the financial year that is 2017 and 2016 respectively. GDI property group has not recorded any amount of any income tax paid in financial year 2017 because organization has received income tax benefits rather than incurring income tax expenses. Therefore, the difference between income tax expense and income tax payable cannot be ascertained. From the analysis and evaluation of annual report of GDI property group stabled, it has been ascertained that the group has not paid any income tax in the current year, rather they have benefitted from taxation. Treatment of tax under in the financial statement of organization has been found to be interesting and surprising as the trust is not liable to pay tax under the current income tax legislation. Capital gains that are realized through taxation is distributed to the unit holders. This particular financial report of organization does not take into account liabilities that are arising from capital gains tax that arises from selling of properties. Total amount of income tax benefits or expense consists of deferred tax expense or income and current income expense or benefit (Schaltegger et al. 2017). There is not recognition of deferred income tax for the assets and liabilities that are recognized from the initial recognition except for business combination. Tax consolidated groups have been formed by the company and its wholly owned subsidiaries and therefore they are taxed as single entity with effective from 16th December, 2016. Organization has employed an approach of separate tax payer within the group that helps in recognition of deferred tax liabilities, deferred tax assets and current income tax income and expenses in the separate financial statements. This recognition using the mentioned approach is done by making reference to carrying amount of liabilities and assets and considering the applicable tax values under tax consolidation (Reeve et al. 2014). Moreover, the extent and amount of deferred tax assets that are arising from tax losses that are unused in the tax consolidated group is determined by the probability that there will be availability of future taxable against which the utilization of assets are done. The obligations of funding of tax consolidated group members in regard to taxation amount is done by the Group by e ntered into an arrangement concerning funding of taxation in association with other members of tax consolidated group. Allocation of liabilities concerning income taxation is determined by the agreement of tax sharing and it is done when company has done any default in meeting taxation obligations (Di Pietr et al. 2015). With regard to the agreement concerning taxation, there has not been any recognition of amounts in the financial statements and the reason is attributable to the fact that any sort of payment of amounts under tax agreement consideration is regarded as remote by the group. The Metamorphosis Use Of Comedy And Irony Essay Example For Students

The Metamorphosis: Use Of Comedy And Irony Essay The Metamorphosis: Use Of Comedy And Irony Essay To what extent did Kafka use comedy/irony to develop his tragic, cynical view of society and family? Gregor Samsa, a young traveling salesman who lives with and financially supports his parents and younger sister, Grete, wakes up one morning to find himself changed in his bed into a monstrous vermin or insect. At first, to my surprise, he is preoccupied with practical, everyday concerns: How to get out of bed and walk with his numerous legs? Can he still make it to the office on time? We will write a custom essay on The Metamorphosis: Use Of Comedy And Irony specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Most persons would be devastated to find themselves in such a position as Gregor, but he did not seem to care much about himself, but only about his obligations, instead of panicking, he starts cursing his job : If I did not hold back for my parents sake, I would have quit long ago, I would have marched up to the boss and spoken my piece from the bottom of my heart, Well, I have not given up hope completely; once Ive gotten the money together to pay off my parents debt to him, Im going to make the big break. But for the time being, I better get up, since my train leaves at five. This is a sort of dry humour; a person in a tragic situation does not seem to notice the predicament he is in. He tries to get out of bed, but his new form does not enable him to do the things he used to do so easily. The way he describes it, can already be seen as comical : First he tried to get out of bed with the lower part of his body, but this lower part- which by the way he had not seen yet and which he could not form a clear picture of- proved too difficult to budge; it was taking so long; and when finally, almost out of his mind, he lunged forward with all his force, without caring, he had picked the wrong direction and slammed himself violently against the lower bedpost,, just imagine a giant beetle trying to climb out his bed and clumsily hurting himself in the process. Kafka definitely seemed to love the comic sides of what might otherwise have been seen as a hopeless situation. But it is not the metamorphosis itself that is relevant, it is the reaction of the world around it. Gregors family might not change overnight or change their behavior towards Gregor and his new form but definitely as time goes by, they slowly become strangers to him. at that moment a lightly flung object hit the floor right near him and rolled in front of him. It was an apple; a second one came flying right after it; Gregor stopped dead with fear; further running was useless, for his father was determined to bombard him. . Now in this scene, Gregor scurries out into the living room and his father starts throwing apples at him to chase him away. This is all because Gregors breakout from his room made his mother faint. So a giant beetle is seeking refuge on his little legs from his own father who is bombarding him with fruit. This must be the most tragic part of the book. Desperation must have taken Gregors father, for what father would bombard his own son? This is the moment when the family starts to rebel against Gregor. They are sick of caring for him and they are afraid. The tragic thing is not the fact that the ammunition is apples, but that one apple got embedded in Gregors back and created a wound that could not be healed. The apple started to rot and got infected. Gregor slowly began to waste away. This one apple would be Gregors death in the end. The apple represents the apple in the garden of Eden. .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c , .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c .postImageUrl , .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c , .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c:hover , .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c:visited , .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c:active { border:0!important; } .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c:active , .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ub9ab13d85d8b1d734bd6ba45ac2cea6c:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The Middle Ages Essay Thesis The difference is that Eve is offered the apple, with Gregor, the apple is thrown at him. The tragic thing is not the fact that the ammunition is apples, but that one apple got embedded in Gregors back and created a wound that could not be healed. The apple started to rot and got infected. Gregor slowly began to waste away. This one apple would be Gregors death in the end. The apple represents the apple in the garden of Eden. .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75 , .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75 .postImageUrl , .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75 , .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75:hover , .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75:visited , .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75:active { border:0!important; } .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75:active , .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75 .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u4b90c407cfc3d27c07c7967ec20e9a75:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Old Madam Yin Essay The difference is that Eve is offered the apple, with Gregor, the apple is thrown at him. Mr. Samsa, . The Metamorphosis Use Of Comedy And Irony Essay Example For Students The Metamorphosis: Use Of Comedy And Irony Essay To what extent did Kafka use comedy/irony to develop his tragic, cynical view of society and family?Gregor Samsa, a young traveling salesman who lives with and financially supports his parents and younger sister, Grete, wakes up one morning to find himself changed in his bed into a monstrous vermin or insect. At first, to my surprise, he is preoccupied with practical, everyday concerns: How to get out of bed and walk with his numerous legs? Can he still make it to the office on time? Most persons would be devastated to find themselves in such a position as Gregor, but he did not seem to care much about himself, but only about his obligations, instead of panicking, he starts cursing his job : If I did not hold back for my parents sake, I would have quit long ago, I would have marched up to the boss and spoken my piece from the bottom of my heart, Well, I have not given up hope completely; once Ive gotten the money together to pay off my parents debt to him, Im going to make the big b reak. But for the time being, I better get up, since my train leaves at five. This is a sort of dry humour; a person in a tragic situation does not seem to notice the predicament he is in.He tries to get out of bed, but his new form does not enable him to do the things he used to do so easily. The way he describes it, can already be seen as comical : First he tried to get out of bed with the lower part of his body, but this lower part- which by the way he had not seen yet and which he could not form a clear picture of- proved too difficult to budge; it was taking so long; and when finally, almost out of his mind, he lunged forward with all his force, without caring, he had picked the wrong direction and slammed himself violently against the lower bedpost,, just imagine a giant beetle trying to climb out his bed and clumsily hurting himself in the process.Kafka definitely seemed to love the comic sides of what might otherwise have been seen as a hopeless situation. It was an apple; a second one came flying right after it; Gregor stopped dead with fear; further running was useless, for his father was determined to bombard him..Now in this scene, Gregor scurries out into the living room and his father starts throwing apples at him to chase him away. This is all because Gregors breakout from his room made his mother faint. So a giant beetle is seeking refuge on his little legs from his own father who is bombarding him with fruit. This must be the most tragic part of the book.Desperation must have taken Gregors father, for what father would bombard his own son? This is the moment when the family starts to reb el against Gregor. They are sick of caring for him and they are afraid. The difference is that Eve is offered the apple, with Gregor, the apple is thrown at him. Piecing it all together, indirectly, it is Gregors own father who kills him.Another ironic change is that after Gregors metamorphosis and the discovery of it by the family, Gregors father, takes over the position Gregor had in the family. Mr. Samsa, an old man who stayed at home and relied on his son for financial support, suddenly changes to a bank official who is holding himself very erect.I find it very ironic in this book that you can see the imminent rebellion of the son against the fa ther. Due to the fathers failure, Gregor became strong and crippled his fathers self-esteem when he took over his position in the family. But after the metamorphosis, the whole thing reverses: the son becomes weak and the father takes over, the father even kills him. Even though the family tries to cope with the fact that their benefactor is no longer able to take care of them, and try to contain the damage, in the process, they all begin to change their own lives. Grete also gets a job and seems to be on the verge of a new life.It is ironic how Gregors predicament is much like that of any person suffering from severe illness or disability. In Gregors new identity, his senses completely change, his eyesight, his hearing, his voice. Some of Gregors changes are generated from within, others are conditioned by the worlds reactions to his metamorphosis. This all points to the inevitable, when one changes, the world around him/her changes as well. Kafka used an awful lot of irony and als o some comedy to point out how society works. How society can break you down and make you one of their puppets. He also clearly shows how your own family can turn against you if something out of the ordinary occurs. .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897 , .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897 .postImageUrl , .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897 , .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897:hover , .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897:visited , .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897:active { border:0!important; } .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897:active , .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897 .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u218b86bd6fdd656823c147a8bcffc897:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Child Abuse Essay We will write a custom essay on The Metamorphosis: Use Of Comedy And Irony specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now
